Get away from the hustle and bustle of LA and come to a small countryside town with rolling prairie fields in Hannon Theatre Company’s “The Rainmaker.” Prepare to indulge in Bill Starbuck’s big claims to bring rain to the drought-impacted town and be swept up in the blossoming love story between Lizzie and Starbuck. After months of memorizing lines, practicing staging, and long rehearsals, the members of Hannon Theatre Company are eager to showcase their hard-work!
Senior Jacob Yi ’26, who plays Bill Starbuck (the Rainmaker), is excited for audiences to be uniquely immersed in the world of the play, being performed on the recently titled “Walter Wolfe Stage” after the company’s previous director who retired last year.
Yi remarks, “I want to impress the audience and represent the new Hannon Theatre Company under Ms. Guido-Clifford. This show is the last play I will be doing at Loyola, and being in a principal role has definitely put some pressure on me to perform and improve as an actor. I want to be an example of how Hannon Theatre can help someone grow.”
The cast includes seniors Yi and Alj Betancourt ’26, sophomores Daniel Fernandez ’28 and Arturo Hernandez III ’28 and freshmen Daniel Ayati-Cox ’29, Alex Bonfiglio ’29, David Rivera ’29 and Asher Wilson ’29. The show is directed and choreographed by Carolyn Guido-Clifford. The stage managers are seniors Francisco Tesen ’26 and Aurora Armour, and the assistant stage manager is junior William Och ’27. The show’s producer is John Kuhl. Senior Jack Carter ’26 (master carpenter), senior Sadie Tlusty (costume), sophomore Valin Scanlin ’28 (sound), sophomore Tucker Rowland ’28 (props).
