The football team has seen massive changes over the past few years, and this season marks a significant turning point. With an influx of new talent, many fresh faces have been added to the varsity roster, not only changing the dynamic on the field but also bringing a renewed energy and spirit to the locker room. These transfers have stepped into roles that were missing in past seasons, and their presence has been felt across every facet of the team.
At the heart of this transformation is quarterback Ashton Pannell ‘26, who came to us from St. John Bosco and has taken command of the offense. Over the past few games, Pannell’s performance has steadily improved, showing his leadership capabilities and skill set.
Other transfers, such as Markus Kier ‘26, Zion Scrivens ‘26, Lucas Meyer ’27, Connor Klein ’25, Daequan Jeffes ’26, Robert Shaw ’26 and Langston Gibson ’26 have also contributed immensely to both sides of the ball.
Starting center Nelson Pye ‘26 stated, “Our transfers have had a great impact on our team. From skill players to the bigs, they’ve come equipped with a mindset that we all share”.
Markus Kier compared Loyola to his previous school, noting “how appreciative everyone is and how great the brotherhood is here.”
He added, “It’s amazing that everyone here has dreams and aspirations and that they have goals in life.”
These new students have been welcomed with open arms, and their contributions have made the entire program stronger, both on and off the field.
