The Father-Son Mass and Brunch took place in Xavier Center on Sunday, Nov. 5. Students and their fathers came to campus to meet fellow classmates, celebrate the Mass and share a meal at the brunch.
Vice President for Mission Dr. Ann Holmquist said, “The importance of the brunch is not only to build community around the Eucharist, but also to share a meal that is both a Eucharistic meal and also the meal that feeds the bodies in terms of a brunch.”
The Rev. Gregory Goethals, S.J. ’73, celebrated the mass. The food served in the brunch included breakfast tacos and french toast. At the brunch the fathers and sons had the opportunity to get their pictures taken.
Freshman Ryan Nishiyama said, “I really liked getting to meet some of my friends’ fathers. It was different hearing from the dad’s point of view of how they liked Loyola as a parent. He [my father]got to see how great Loyola is because he went to this school, so he could see how much it has changed.”
