Zlicious Eats, more commonly known as “Z’s,” is the campus option for students looking to buy food. With three locations around campus, the lines at Z’s are infamous for being overcrowded and a hassle to wait in. However, it may be worth the wait. Offering many different types of menus, students have the option to get items ranging from chicken teriyaki bowls all the way to breakfast muffins. With such a plethora of options to choose from, whether it be prepackaged items or freshly cooked dishes, the question arises: What are the favorite foods at Z’s and why?
Drawing from the freshman class, Michael Romero ’28 commented, “I like the steak teriyaki bowl but I recommend the $3 fries for a quick snack, especially on a day like Friday.” This seems to be a large opinion within the student body, as the fresh and warm feeling of a steak bowl or fries in your mouth can help you power through the week. Jack Nassari ‘28 shared a similar view, “I like the chicken teriyaki bowl for lunch and pop tarts for a snack because it is cheaper.” Jack also introduces a new student perspective in prioritizing cheap and quick snacks.
While Z’s offers other entrée options, like a $5 chicken sandwich or a $6 burger, the $8-$9 chicken and steak teriyaki bowls remain popular for their generous portions. However, the humble $3 fries stand out as a fan favorite, offering an affordable and satisfying option for students on the go.
While some students prioritize quick and budget-friendly snacks, others argue that Z’s entrees offer a better value for their price. At the end of the day, the best food at Z’s depends on your budget and personal taste preference. Whether you’re grabbing fries to snack on between classes or treating yourself to a hearty and stomach-filling teriyaki bowl, Z’s definitely has a suitable option for every Loyola Cub.
