The new Loyola Music Production Club, where Cubs come to bond over music, is the latest feat of Loyola’s artistic outreach. Leaders Iskandar Arias ‘27 and Julian Angelo ‘27 hope to bring their passion for music production to Loyola.
The idea for the club originated during the 2020 lockdown. “I started making beats during quarantine and have stuck to it since,” said Arias. “I am so happy that I can connect with other students that share similar passions to mine through an official Loyola club.”
Charley Binkow, history teacher and club moderator, stated, “During each meeting, club leaders Julian Angelo and Iskandar Arias lead discussions with a brief PowerPoint and then present their works in progress for peer-to-peer evaluation.”
Binkow also has extensive experience in music production. As a former band member, lead guitarist, and vocalist, Binkow can draw on a multitude of skills and experiences to guide students and nurture their musical talent.
Every Thursday, members of the Music Production Club meet to connect with fellow music enthusiasts where they can share ideas and grow creatively. The club is an opportunity for Cubs to apply their musical talent to creative projects and learn more about the field. For students interested in music industry careers, it provides invaluable experience for their future endeavors.
It aims to provide a space for music enthusiasts to present and demonstrate their understanding of musical concepts. Arias explained, “The Music Production Club is a great way for people who enjoy music on any level to learn the basics and foundation of creating any of your favorite songs.”
