The Broadcast Club started last year and has since streamed several Loyola events. Recently, the club was renamed to the John Malloy ’61 Broadcasting Club, and club members are planning to stream even more sport home games, Loyola announcements, ceremonies and presentations.
Science teacher and club moderator Andrew Uy said, “The club changed its name to the John Malloy ’61 Broadcasting Club to honor the many years of service that Mr. Malloy provided as the ‘Voice of the Cubs,’ and he did all of the announcements at sports games.”
The club is also collaborating with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) network to broadcast varsity home football games, according to Uy.
“The NFHS network has rights through CIF of particular games that FOX Sports will not broadcast, so it’s a second tier to FOX.”
