The end of the 2025 Formula One season is on the horizon. The final four races will be some of the best of the year for one reason: the strong competition between drivers this year and exciting title fight.
There have been many top competitors this year, such as Max Verstappen, the Dutch four-time Formula One World Champion for Red Bull and one of the sport’s most dominant drivers. One of the key things Verstappen is recognized for is his aggressive and skilled driving style, bringing a new level and intensity to Formula 1. He has won five races in 2025: the Japanese, Italian, Belgian, Azerbaijan and United States Grands Prix.
Other notable racers like Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) have won multiple races and sit atop the Drivers Championship. George Russel (Mercedes) has also won a couple of Grands Prix, taking the Canadian and Singapore Grands Prix. McLaren has dominated the season with 12 wins in the first 18 rounds. George Russel has had a great few races, especially his win in Singapore. While watching the Grand Prix in Singapore, Richard Armador ‘26 was very excited. “It was exhilarating and I was on the edge of my seat during every moment of the race.”
One of the most interesting rivalries on the track is Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both of whom have been performing at a high level throughout the whole season and continue to show dominance over the competition. Both of these competitors have very high possibilities for taking the title, but only time will tell.
Following these, the Red Bull racer Max Verstappen has shown his strengths on the track, but has to adapt to McLaren’s races. This whole season, Landon Herber ‘29 has been creating his own predictions about how the season will turn out: “McLaren has been doing amazing; their car has been a huge help, but their drivers are some of the best. I think Oscar Piastri is going to win the driver’s championship. Lando will definitely hold his spot at number 2, and Max Verstappen is going to take third, but if Ferrari had better engineers, they could have been in the top three because they have 2 very talented drivers.”
Following the Mexico City Grand Prix, Norris now leads the Drivers Championship by a single point, with Piastri trailing him. Verstappen is not out of the equation either, as he sits in third, 36 points behind Norris. Regardless of who ends up winning the Drivers Championship, there’s no doubt that the 2025 Formula One season has been very entertaining and will go down as one for the history books.
