On Oct. 13, Loyola juniors and seniors attended Loyola Marymount University’s 2025 Cubs on Campus visit. Open to any Loyola upperclassman, this experience gave Cubs an in-depth and free tour of LMU’s stunning beach-side campus.
Arriving at 8 a.m., Cubs ate breakfast with Fr. Marc Reeves S.J., one of the more than 40 Jesuits on LMU’s campus. Following this meeting, the group met with a panel of professors speaking about student life at LMU, who emphasized the collaborative and beneficial learning environment of the school. With the average class size at around 19, LMU students are able to form strong relationships with their professors.

Joining the panel of professors were Loyola alumni and current students at LMU, who answered additional questions Cubs had about the university. They offered information about the community at LMU that is open to helping everyone. Nathaniel Avalos ‘27 remarked, “Everyone at LMU was very welcoming, and I felt a sense of belonging being on the campus.”
Cubs then began their campus tour, visiting buildings and areas like the dining hall. They were informed about LMU’s extensive nutrition plan offered to students. They also toured the William H. Hannon Library and saw the stunning view from atop the bluff overlooking Santa Monica and the West Side. After the tour, the group sat down to have pizza for lunch, pairing this with a Q&A and a final reflection.
Charlie Delja ‘27 talked about his experience, saying, “I think this campus visit to LMU was beneficial to me, and I also believe other Cubs would benefit from visiting LMU since it’s a local Jesuit school, just like Loyola. They’re very similar schools, and I think LMU’s a great college.”
The 2025 Cubs On Campus Visit was a great way for juniors and seniors to experience LMU and learn more about what they’re looking for in a college in their decision-making process.
