With Reed Richards’ brain and The Thing’s Strength, Fantastic Four: First Steps was a hit all around.
With a noticeable drop off in viewership, Marvel has been looking for a bounce back when it comes to their movies, and Fantastic Four is precisely what they were trying to hit.
Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the four created the fantastic family that Marvel was looking for.
“The bond of the family was there,” said Drake Verabian ’26. “I was able to feel a sense of friendship and chemistry with the cast, something that I haven’t really been able to see in a Marvel movie since Endgame.”
Beyond its financial success, earning over 490 million dollars, Fantastic Four: First Steps offered a compelling reintroduction to Marvel’s “First Family.” The story follows Reed Richards and his team as they grapple with their new powers after a cosmic accident changes them forever.
Unlike previous adaptations, the story focuses on the family dynamic, allowing the audience to understand the new family and their place within the broader Marvel Universe.
Marvel executives have stated that the film and characters serve as the cornerstone of the next stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The family gives hope to many of the diehard Marvel fans who have felt disillusioned with Marvel’s recent lackluster projects.
Hudson Walker ’26 stated, “I really think that the Fantastic Four will start the great new beginning of Marvel films as it heads towards Avengers: Doomsday.”
Fantastic Four: First Steps has started the revival of Marvel films, and fans anticipate greatness for this new Marvel Family. With strong chemistry, a powerful story, and box office success, the Fantastic Four look set to lead Marvel into its next era.
