On April 5, 2025, the long-awaited Loyola Junior/Senior Prom finally took place after months of planning and anticipation culminated into one evening, as students, families and faculty gathered to celebrate this special night. With dresses sweeping across the floor and tuxedos gleaming under the dim lights, prom is an event that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary — even if only from 7:00–11:00 P.M. on a Saturday night.
This year’s prom theme was “Once Upon a Time at 1901: A Night in Old Hollywood,” which was promoted through various decor at the venue, such as a Hollywood sign, old movie posters, and miniature Oscar trophies.
This carefully orchestrated evening began with casino-themed games like poker, roulette, and blackjack, complemented with mini appetizers and refreshers in Caruso. At around 8:30, everyone gathered outside for prayer and dinner, where salad, chicken and mac and cheese was served. After dinner, people were free to spend the rest of their time however they wanted, whether that be dancing, doing backflips, playing more poker or taking photos with their dates.
William Wetzel ‘26 enthusiastically remarked, “I felt proud to show others, including my date, what being a Cub was all about. The prom itself was very enjoyable because of the lively atmosphere, accompanied by all of the fantastic music and food. I was especially impressed with the mini desserts, one of which was a mini cup of milk with a mini chocolate cookie served on top. I am really looking forward to going again next year as a senior!”
Similarly, Declan Meyer ‘26 noted, “Of course the music and food were great, but if I had to name my favorite part of this evening, it would be the blackjack. Overall, it was extremely well-executed, and I am excited about going again next year!”
With such high expectations and positive feedback every year, Loyola’s prom remains a highly anticipated event that juniors and seniors can look forward to going to every year.
Ethan Lee ‘25 reinforced the importance of attending: “The endless entertainment, along with the music and food, made my experience that much better. To those wondering if they should go to prom next year, definitely go. You will definitely regret choosing not to go.”
Loyola’s prom continues to serve as an opportunity to make new memories with friends while having a great time. Ultimately, prom is a meaningful tradition for high school students to celebrate the near end of their high school journey alongside their friends and peers in a fun and memorable way.
