You know the school year is underway once intramurals start. To kick off the season, frisbee came in hot. With sizable rosters and energetic players, Cubs took Smith Field with an intent to take home the first championship of the year, and the 2024 champs were the Berendo Bobcats.
Jayden Lee ‘26, a member of a losing upper-division team, reflected on his team’s performance, saying, “Our team chemistry was on point. But, our main weakness was our throwing accuracy. It led to multiple turnovers and eventually, losses.”
Ultimately, Lee’s team fell to the formidable Bobcats during the elimination rounds. Although Lee’s team had their ups and downs, each member generally had a great experience, and they’re ready to return to the tournament and aim for gold next year.
Turning to basketball, Leavey Gym is booming with excitement. Even the Loyola Basketball Instagram account has taken notice of the passion for the game this year. Prescott Farrar ‘26 commented, “We treat every game like it’s our last. The second we step on the court we’re locked in.”
According to Farrar, the Martinez and Habash teams are tournament favorites due to their efficient work in the paint and impressive shooting accuracy. Any team can have skilled players, but having a well-rounded team, or a “well-oiled machine,” as Farrar puts it, is the key to winning.
During intramurals, Cubs bond with their brothers in an extremely competitive and fun experience that helps de-stress during a typical school day.
