On Friday, Oct. 31, many students gathered around the commons to watch the Halloween costume contest. There were many great costumes including Elvis Presley, TikTok famous AJ and Big Justice, Jesus Christ, and more.
The faculty joined the students as separate departments dressed up for the occasion. The science department had a theme of roller coasters, the math department had a theme of slam dunk superstars, and the English department had a theme of the “This is Fine” internet meme.
Beau Baker ’26 told us that he dressed up as Big Justice, and he was shocked to tie for first place with the Elvis Presley costume.
Baker stated, “My costume was Big Justice, and my buddy Patrick Pellegrini was Big AJ. These are viral TikTokers known for ‘bringing the BOOM’ and being the ‘Costco guys.’ We thought it was very original, and we couldn’t believe we tied for the win!”
As the day continued, lunch featured a mechanical bull out in Malloy Commons. Students and faculty tested their durability on the wild animal, with some succeeding and others falling off within the first few seconds.
Alongside the main attraction, students enjoyed a special ten-dollar taco nacho combo from Z’licious.
Phillip Nam ’25 stated, “It was surprisingly pretty good for Z’s standards.”
The holiday was filled with many from the Loyola community dressing up as unique and fun characters with the goal of keeping the holiday spirit strong. Students and faculty are excited to celebrate the spooky festivities once again next year.
