On Saturday, Jan. 9, senior David Long competed in the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, which features “the best 90 players in an annual East vs. West matchup,” according to the bowl’s website.
On the first drive of the second quarter, Long, who played as a defensive back for the West team, caught an interception in the end zone, preventing the opposing receiver from catching a touchdown. Long then returned the ball for 27 yards before running out of bounds.
Long recorded the longest return from an interception in the game from either team. His interception also led to an offensive touchdown only a few minutes later. At the end of four quarters, the West team came out on top, beating the East team 37-9.
Ranked as the eighth best cornerback in the country by 247Sports.com, Long committed to play football at the University of Michigan, which has the fifth strongest recruiting class this year behind Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Ohio State, in that order, according to that same website.
