Big Brothers will accompany their freshman Little Brothers to the varsity football team’s home matchup against Bishop Amat on Sept. 29 for the annual “Take Your Little Brother to the Game” event. Prior to the game, there will be food, pool activities and a movie.
Co-Director of Campus Ministry Matthew Schaeffer said, “The event offers the Big Brothers another opportunity to get to know their Little Brothers in a relaxed setting, and [Little Brothers] get to see what the Loyola experience is about, along with getting to know their Big Brothers better.”
Freshman Landon McGarrigle said, “My Big Brother has been there for me, and it’s nice to know that I have someone who I can look up to.”
Remembering his freshman year, Big Brother Steve Cox said, “I had a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of my Big Brother’s friends, which was a great opportunity to meet the upperclassmen. I thought it was a great way to connect with my fellow Little Brothers and transition from their orientation when I was just getting to know them.”
Cox also said that he thinks Big Brothers are very beneficial to freshmen as they help them “get to know older kids in the school.”
