The Christian Life Community of America facilitated a Thanksgiving food drive, collecting food donations for the St. Thomas the Apostle Food Bank during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. The food was then transported from campus to St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the corner of Pico Boulevard and South Mariposa Avenue.
The purpose of the food drive was to collect canned goods in order to feed the local poor who are unable to pay for their own food. In a city with 82,000 homeless people, the organization assures donors that all donations will be put to use. The donations are being distributed from the St. Thomas the Apostle Food Bank on Saturday, Nov. 19, and the leftovers will be stored for future consumption.
The CLC is an international organization of Christians who have chosen to take part in the Ignatian way of being “men and women for others.” The organization’s members draw their inspiration from the teachings of St. Ignatius and strive to project them in their everyday lives. One of the organization’s main goals is to serve the poor through conducting food drives.
