Frosh Football Shuts Out Chaminade 35-0

The freshman football team, led by Coach Ahn, first year head coach, has started the year off with an overall record of  3-4 and a league record of 1-2.  Ahn was previously on the staff as an assistant and line coach.  The team’s first Mission League game resulted in a loss of 6-7 against Villa Park.

Freshman football player Tot Davis said, “The team is doing well, and we are continuing to work hard at practice and in games.”

The Cubs’ next game was a defeat against Santa Margarita 27-21 on Aug. 31. The Cubs then went on to shutout St. Augustine 19-0 on September 9.

Davis said, “Our quarterback Finn Collins has been standing out this season as well as the running backs.”

The team lost to Cathedral 6-34 on September 14, but came back with a win against Notre Dame 23-7. In the next two games the Cubs lost to both Bishop Amat 13-20 on September 8 and to Serra 7-26 on October 5.

The Cubs beat Chaminade on Thursday, Oct. 12, with yet another 35-0 shutout. The team’s next game against Crespi is on Friday, Oct. 20.  The freshman team’s defense has held their opponents to an average of 13.6 points per game.

Davis said, “I am excited to play against Crespi and I think we are going to win.”
