After beating Beckman high school in four games in the CIF Southern Section Semifinals on Wednesday, May 18, at home, the Cubs advanced to the CIF-SS Division 1 Finals against Corona del Mar at Cerritos College on Saturday, May 21. After winning the first two sets 25-14 and 25-20, respectively, the Cubs lost the third and fourth sets, sending the game to the fifth and final set where the Cubs beat the Sea Kings 15-12 to claim the CIF Title.
After defeating Corona del Mar, the Cubs advanced to the first round of the Southern California Regionals against El Camino Real high school on Tuesday, May 24. The Cubs beat the El Camino Real Conquistadors in three games to propel the Cubs to the second round against Mira Costa.
Mira Costa won the first two sets and the Cubs responded by winning the next two, sending the game to the fifth set where the Cubs were unable to overtake the Mustangs, concluding their season.
