THE VARSITY LACROSSE TEAM won its first Southern Section Title after defeating Corona del Mar 10-6 on May 21, making Loyola the first ever LA team to win the Southern Section title.

On Saturday, May 21, the Cubs beat Corona del Mar 10-6 to claim the Southern Section Title, making Loyola the first LA team to claim this title.

Senior Sean Smith and juniors Mason O’ Hanlon and Jonathan Partamian each scored twice. Juniors Garrett Smith and Ryder Mora and sophomores Henry Hasenberg and Aidan Hesse each scored once.

By halftime, the Cubs had scored half a dozen goals “against a team that had allowed an average of only six per game all season,” according to MaxLaxLA.com.

O’Hanlon was named the offensive player of the game and junior Joe Theuer was named the defensive player of the game.
