Adam Gonzalez ‘03 joins the Loyola the staff teaching four sections of Senior Magis, 2 sections of Campus, and will fill the newly created role of Director of Transportation.
Born in Los Angeles, raised in Ventura, Gonzalez attended Iona College and graduated from Occidental College with a degree in sociology.
Before taking up employment at Loyola, Gonzalez worked with adults with autism in Social Vocational Services and as a legal assistant at a law firm.
“Working with Social Vocational Services was a huge life lesson for me,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez was drawn back to the Loyola community because of his sense of duty to teach.
“It is our job and if you have knowledge it is our obligation to teach. Loyola is a community that is always evolving. It is always fresh. It is always at the forefront of innovation,”
This is the first year Loyola has taken it upon themselves to create a system for students to commute to Loyola.
“I make sure everyone is getting to Loyola from Pasadena, South Bay, the valley, all over the place,” Gonzalez said
Outside of the classroom, Gonzalez is interested in travel and coaching the freshmen football team.
“I’m big on travel. Travel is one of the best ways of learning outside the classroom. I really want to go to Peru,” Gonzalez said, “It blew my mind.”
Gonzalez hopes to instill a passion for travel with the students here.
