The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, held in Indio, California, has become one of the leading music festivals in the world, featuring popular and rising musicians of all genres.
The 2017 installment has been highly anticipated because of the star-studded lineup of prominent artists, most notably Beyoncé, Radiohead, and Kendrick Lamar, this year’s headlining acts. Other artists performing at the festival include: The xx, Future, Bon Iver, Martin Garrix, Lorde, DJ Khaled, and even Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
The lineup announcement created much excitement and anticipation for festival-goers and fans alike who expect great shows by these performers. Sophomore Nicky Calabria said, “I’m most excited to see Mac Miller, he is my favorite artist and his shows are usually amazing and very high energy.”
The festival is also recognized for its amazing food, hosting interesting vendors every year as well as the iconic watermelon stand. The interesting food, disco room, ferris wheel, Do-lab, and incredible music all make Coachella stand out as a top tier music festival. Art is also displayed at the festival, the most popular being the huge sculptures scattered around the Empire Polo Club grounds.
Across social media, the most anticipation has been for Beyoncé’s headline performance, her first-ever at the festival. Former headlining artists include: The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, AC/DC, Drake, Guns N’ Roses and Calvin Harris. The 2017 festival is anticipated to be as exceptional as in years past.
